I’ve been pretty creatively tapped recently, so since I’m stuck in quarantine I thought I’d try my hand at a Schoenberg-style 12-tone composition as an exercise to try to stoke my creativity. It’s short, but it packs in a lot in just 1 minute.
I used 9 of the rows based on the sequence I chose. I didn’t go for *straight-up* Schoenbergian atonality in my approach though – while I technically follow all the rules to the letter, I instead opted for something a little more personal; plus I thought trying to resolve some of these intentionally hard-to-resolve tones might be an interesting additional challenge.
